DRIZZLE

The parks are so greatly abandoned on days like this, that I love to take them over with my kids -- we don't mind getting a little drizzle on us, turns out we are waterproof. I am all about practical comfort on rainy days... staying cozy and laid back. It has been rather warm here in MN but I was glad to have this cooler day in the mix and get the grass brightened up with all that rain!

Actually have to admit that my dad kind of inspired me to drag out this old Ralph Lauren skirt when his wise words of fashion were spoken "EVERYBODY looks good in camo."  And well I am not impressed with my dad's fashion views, I am starting to think he may be onto something. In any case, if you even meet him please do not tell him that he may be right -- or that he influenced my choice when getting dressed. I am starting to think that I also need this sweater in the shade meridian -- I don't plan on living without it for long!

can we still be friends

 Here is another look at a studio session with my friend Kylee. She has such a talent viewing things and an even better talent for somehow making me look thinner on film. We were so obsessed with this color scheme that we decided to ditch the set and make it all about the lovely clothes. I so wanted that leather shag rug -- if it didn't weigh 100 lbs I would have snuck it in my purse!

THE TEE SHIRT SKIRT

Ok so clearly I am on a skirt kick thanks to comfy numbers like this from LNA. I love that it feels like a tee and that I don't get bothered if it has a wrinkle or 2 in it. The effortless feel of it makes it surprisingly dimensional. Leave it to me to make it less girly by throwing on some Sperry's and an oversized denim shirt... see that makes it functional for the park!

I am not one to wear mini skirts usually, but when I saw this one in LNA clothing's summer lookbook I fell in love with it! The color was just too good and I am picky about my pinks! It is so comfortable and BONUS my husband was a big fan of me showing my legs!

Also, I am not at all sure why I am making the "blue steele" face in the first photo, but if it worked for Zoolander than I guess it works for me.

MINT

As much as I love the colored jean trend, neons and bolds just aren't really for me some days. I think finding muted colors makes it a much easier trend to try and really goes with a lot more. It works best for me when clothes can be dressed up or dressed down. Today I went for dressed up :)

CROPPED

 I am so digging cropped pants right now. I think they have a good elongating effect for some reason which is surprising. These hit my ankle bone when they are down, but I have a tendency to roll my pants in the summer, maybe it makes the whole thing feel more effortless. A little pop of color is always great when an outfit is on the neutral side plus I had to girly this up since I was going without makeup.  These shoes are about the only red thing that I own! Perhaps I should consider owning more colored shoes! I live in this basic lna tee! It is the perfect fit and their heather grays are just SOOOOO good... definitely a must!

SPRINKLING

It has been a little hazy here in MN lately with off and on rain. The luscious result is dense greenery all around, it is lovely. It is nice that the sun has peeked it's head throughout each rainy day though. I tend to get child-like and jump in puddles and splash. I do take precautions on staying dry though :) Simple is definitely my take on dressing in the morning lately, you never know what the day may bring.

OVERSIZED TEE

I am super into light denim right now. Now that summer is nearing I am feeling that laid back part of me start to kick back in. I don't like to wear fussy clothes. Must be why I buy my shirts a size or 2 too big. If you ask me people (and bloggers) are making their outfits way too fussy. I am a mom, I don't do fussy when my kids are with me. Maybe it is my Midwestern approach but gosh I have no idea how Victoria Beckham wears YSL heels to her kids soccer games...

LEOPARD

Leopard pants. Yeah, I caved.  I got the Target version instead. Pretty hot for 10% of the price. They fit surprisingly GREAT! Go buy em, they are cheap and they are everywhere right now!!! And let's face it, some of us can't spend $190 on such a trendy item!

Loving clothes with a loose fit, that have movement. I always love the way a baggy tee fits and feels. I intend to stock up on tees this summer as that's what I will be living in!

We had a tease of summer but the April chill is back in the air here in MN. I have been dying to get this Stylemint dress out since I bought it, but it looks like I will be wearing it with pants for a few more weeks until the warmer weather hits. Not sure but I may like it better knotted up anyhow!

MIDDAY WALK

Lately I have been reacquainted with my love for pink. I just can't help but think that I need more of it in my wardrobe. I have always been a fan of statement necklaces as well. There will be more of those added into my wardrobe soon as well! Our weather here in MN has been a dream, and I love not having to wear a coat. Our snow piles are even dwindling down into nothing, soon enough I will be wearing cut offs and white tees every day!

Clearly I was mis-informed that spring was here... I put this on before I realized we were due to get 4 inches of snow. Try dusting your car off in flats... it's not fun. As you know I have a clear obsession with blazers and, well, Blazer + Chambray = DUH!!! Oh c'mon I don't care that it looks like something my dad probably wore when he was in his 20's... do I?? No, clearly I don't because I am obviously not ashamed to wear friendship bracelets that I made myself! Also I am not too cool to admit that my Tory Burch wristlet is probably a fake, I mean it was a gift, but that doesn't make it any less cute... well ok it does but I still use it!
