SHOPPING DOWNTOWN

Our mini trip downtown, as it turns out, was the place to debut my Missoni for Target jacket. I should have taken pictures of all the people I spotted wearing the line! I actually got a lot of acknowledgements on my coat! I must admit I found in the little girls section! Love the print and the colors, and kind of excited that not many adults will have it!! Did any of you get out and buy Missoni for Target pieces?

PATENT LEATHER BOOTS

goofing off

 I always thought you had to have a daughter in order to have a little fun dressing your kid every day. Turns out that isn't true! Boys can be just as fun to accessorize, and well, who cares if other moms at the park think you are weird. I love when my boys get a little funky with their clothes! Looks like little Brinley is going to be an eccentric dresser (one can only hope!).

Me {gilly hicks and abercrombie shirts, sanctuary utility vest, Elizabeth and James jeans, jcrew and juicy couture bracelets, coach bag, shoes jeffrey campbell}

Rowan {crewcuts tshirt and shoe lace on his wrist, gapkids jeans and shoes}

Brinley {gap jeans, jensen's local store patent leather boots,  american apparel belt, von maur robot shirt}

RECYCLE

I am all about finding new ways to recycle clothes (yes, I am known to bust out my old doc martens here and there) but I am loving the recycling concept of Novella Royale. She finds old fabrics and remakes them into something amazing by giving them a new shape and purpose (cue the awesome pants). I am thinking in their past life these pants were a curtain in a fortune tellers chambers... it is kind of fun to make up crazy stories of what they may have been. So anyways, Novella Royale keeps everything local and the owner is working away at an awesome new collection set to hit her site the end of the month. fingers crossed that I see one of her new Hendrix jackets in my near future! (hopefully that is the pants talking from their past fortune telling life).  Anyways my 4 year old thinks my pants are cool. So do I. You should too.

THE TREND || COBALT BLUE

This fall it is ok to be blue. Just ask the Smurfs, even they are back in full force. Anyways we are not talking Smurfs here. This is a good blog and we wouldn't want you to discredit us. Anyways it would be a shame to confuse cerulean blue {actual smurfs color} with cobalt blue {color featured today on this here blog}. They are COMPLETELY different ok. ok.

 Now here are some truly helpful tips:
Wear a blue shirt or cardigan with a black pencil skirt if you want to look like a chic professional at work... then when you leave work change your skirt into boyfriend jeans and shazam you are ready to go to the apple orchard upon leaving work.
 If you want to rock the blue on the lower half of your body consider a cream or white shirt with a grey blazer for work and then ditch the blazer and throw a colorful scarf around your neck and bam you are ready for your coffee date.
In any case if this is just too much, that is ok, a simple belt or a pair of flats will make an all black ensemble look like you actually knew what you were doing when you got dressed. Go ahead give it a try, no one will call you a smurf. I swear. Because as I explained before they are cerulean not cobalt, sheesh!
And definitely consider getting your dog a matching sweater in this shade because you really want him to be in style while you are walking him.

THE TREND || COLORED PANTS

Color is in this fall and it surely is hot on the runways, but we think it is something that you should embrace in your every day life. From dress pants to jeans you are sure to find a shape {or shade} that suits you. Pair it with another bright or with a neutral but either way this is a trend we think you should sport to work, to the mall, or to meet your boyfriends parents. Don't you agree!?

BOYFRIEND JEANS

I know you may think this is kind of boring, but I am just so proud of myself for finally embracing the "boyfriend jeans" I have always loved how they look on other people but I felt frumpy every time I gave them a go. This time I decided to add a pop of color and girly jewelry. I definitely am not used to wearing pants this shape, but I think I am starting to choose comfort and these are the softest jeans! I bought them from a second hand store so I thank the person who broke them in for me:) Gladiator sandals are my go to- I am not much of a flip-flopper...

ps if you look close you can see my fluff head of a dog in the window haha, yep, we are a classy blog!

THE TREND || LEPRECHAUN GREEN

LEPRECHAUN GREEN: This trend has been creeping in all summer but is sticking around {and taking over} this fall. Whether you just add a splash of it to brighten up a mundane outfit or go bold by wearing statement pants/ jacket/ shirt you are sure to stand out when everyone else is wearing black and grey (blah blah blah BORING!). Whatever you do just don't sport it head to toe {with a top hat and four leaf clover} mmmk. We think this trend is a pot of gold (cheesy quip intended)!

AT THE PARK

Ok funny story about these shoes, I had them in a polyvore set and when I realized they were from forever21 I couldn't resist the cheap price. When she rang me up instead of 34.90 they were 6.99!! SCORE!! When I got home I realized one is a size 7 and the other is a size 8 LOL no wonder they were so cheap. Note to self: next time try BOTH shoes on not just the left foot. Haha not to mention that cheap shoes are ridiculously uncomfortable!

 Loving Free People lately. They have such effortless pieces that are full of comfort. The slouchy sweaters are making me anxious for real fall weather. It is still pretty cool here in the mornings so this look is perfect for me as the day goes on and gets warmer. Leather shorts are a must for fall and then come winter just throw some tights on underneath them!

WHAT I WORE TO A TEA PARTY

I was going to a tea party and it was just too hot out for a maxi dress. I got ready in about 20 minutes- record time for me! I grabbed these boots out of my mom's closet {yes, my mom is awesome- I know!} and they happened to be more comfortable than the flats I was wearing. I loved how they off-set  my girly outfit. The brand stone cold fox and the website shop planet blue have been my latest inspiration for outfit influences they often style girly pieces with more rugged, worn-in boots! Also, I am still trying to get used to carrying my Rebecca Minkoff clutch. It is tough to fit all the random things my kids need into a smaller bag like this, but I am trying really hard! I really want her navajo satchel... plus I bet I could fit more junk in it!

{shorts stone cold fox, shirt ardenb, shoes jeffrey campbell, clutch rebecca minkoff, earings vintage from my mom, headband anthropologie}

...And then I found an awesome trailer and well, we were all matchy-matchy so we had to take pics together!
